What is ASCE?

The American Society of Civil Engineers, is a professional organization representing more than 123,000 civil engineers. ASCE celebrated its 150th anniversary in 2002, making it the oldest national engineering society.

Why Join?

ASCE offers weekly meetings that provide students with opportunities for professional development through sponsored luncheons and an annual career fair. These sponsored luncheons allow professionals to give presentations to student members in hopes of recruiting potential employees. ASCE also participates in events throughout the community that use civil engineering skills for the betterment of society, such as Habitat for Humanity. Besides offering numerous potential job opportunities and the added benefit of knowing that employers look for students who take an active role in professional societies; ASCE allows students to make friends who are in their major. Each month ASCE hosts a fun outing or social event, as well as tailgates during football season and the Carolina’s Conference in Spring.
