Membership

The Georgia Tech chapter of ASCE has so much to offer for our members! We plan to host several events throughout the school year allowing members to develop their personal and professional growth and connections with the ASCE community while having an enjoyable experience! Learn more about membership in our chapter below:

Becoming a Member:

Official membership allows you to fully benefit from our chapter’s and ASCE’s opportunities! Becoming a member is FREE on the national and local levels. Follow this step-by-step process to become a member:

  1. National ASCE Membership – Follow this link to become a national member
    • Make sure to take note of your national ID (this is useful for registering for certain events and is necessary to register as a GT ASCE member)
  2. Georgia Tech ASCE Membership – Use this form to become a Georgia Tech ASCE member
  3. You’re all done! Enjoy your membership and take advantage of all the opportunities soon to come! 😊

Intramurals:

Intramurals are offered for a variety of sports such as flag football, dodgeball, soccer, and basketball. Intramurals are a great way for members to be active while connecting with other members and GT students. These events allow members to take a step back from academic and professional involvements and have fun in friendly competition! More information can be found by filling out this interest form or contacting our Member-At-Large, Abi Lin (alin358@gatech.edu).

Social and Service Events:

Throughout the school year, our chapter will host a series of events for you to unplug from school and spend time with other students in the ASCE or Civil and Environmental Engineering (CEE) community! More information can be found on our Instagram.

Our social events include events such as tailgates, joint CEE events, and the holiday social. We also host sponsored tailgates, allowing students to network with company representatives in an informal setting. These events are offered to students at no cost. Typically, we also provide food and games. Social events are valuable in helping students build meaningful relationships and enjoy their time on campus.

Our service events usually vary each year, but last school year our chapter hosted events with organizations such as Trees Atlanta, PAWS Atlanta, and Atlanta Beltline (Yes, there’s a lot of Atlanta here). These opportunities are perfect for students to get involved in and contribute to meaningful projects. Additionally, we also try to help interested members with transportation concerns by arranging carpool groups.

Professional Development Events:

Coffee Chats

Coffee chats are another great opportunity to meet with industrial professionals in a casual setting. Typically, members get to enjoy light snacks and refreshments such as coffee and donuts while connecting with others. Each coffee chat is geared toward a specific concentration of civil engineering (transportation, construction, structural, etc.) which allows members to engage in conversations that they are interested in.

Conference

Conference provides members with the opportunity to get involved and advance their technical knowledge! Learn more about conference and the different opportunities that there are on the Conference page. We also host a fall conference interest meeting. These details will be advertised on our Instagram closer to the date.

General Body Meetings (GBMs)

General Body Meetings occur weekly on Tuesdays at 11 am in Mason 1113. Usually, General Body Meetings are presentations from different company representatives. Additionally, we occasionally have panels about relevant topics such as sustainability. This variation is designed to allow members to get exposure to various backgrounds of civil engineering. General Body Meetings are also a great way for you to ask company representatives questions.

Site Visits

Site visits allow members to get valuable insight into different projects that they are interested in. Our company sponsors are eager to give GT ASCE members a tour of their ongoing projects. These opportunities help gain an inside look into the process behind specific projects, including details that aren’t always shared with the public.
